lets get started

The first week back in hawaii has been amazing. it has been so great to get to see all my friends again and get started with this january school. students finally started showing up today so i have been doing some airport runs and getting stuff ready. we had a couple base cleaning days so that the base would be at its best for the students to arrive, mostly yard work in hawaii. we had milk and orange juice that wasn't expired donated this week, a rare thing in these parts it was like christmas all over again enjoying a cup of orange juice. im so excited for the school to start, God has been putting the desire in my heart to spend even more time praying and being in scripture. i can't wait to see what God has in store for these students and to get to know them. it looks like im going to be the point person for evangelism which i am really excited about. I really have the desire to tell people about Jesus and have been working on having a greater fear of the lord than fear of man and it has been going well. i get so excited to go and tell people about Jesus, it is nerve-racking but totally worth dying to myself and stepping out in faith and watching God use me. thanks for reading my blog if you have any questions or comments please email me, i love to hear from people stephen.duke@yahoo.com
God bless

back in hawaii

finally back in hawaii, i miss my family and friends but it feels good to be back doing what i am called to do. most of the staff is here, some are having problems with the weather if you can pray for that it would be great. being back with everyone is really great, catching up is going really great. it almost feels like i never left. the weather wasn't too great when we were gone(a lot of rain) so were trying to deal with some of that. buildings are a little wet on the inside and the grass is overgrown. spiritually i am really excited for this school. i am so privileged to be involved in YWAM especially with the people i am staffing with. sometimes its overwhelming when God starts working in your life. a year ago i had no idea the possibilities God would place in my life and how blessed i would be. i am so excited to do this school and what else God has in store for my life.

september school 2008

All i can say about this September school is i am blown away.  They are all giving a 100 percent and just want to see God move and he is meeting them where they are at like he does. I am so excited to see what God does in their lives on outreach.
This friday we went to street evangelize like every friday, and amazing things happened. To update you a little bit we had Andy Byrd speak at our school this week and he is amazing. He gave the students a hunger for the holy spirit and they were stoked to go out and do what God called his disciples to do.
So they went out to evangelize this week with the expectation to preach the gospel heal the sick cast out demons and raise the dead. we didn't see any dead people, we didn't come across any demons but we preached the gospel and healed people. we prayed for a guy from london who was wearing a leg cast because he tore his achilles tendon. we prayed for healing he started sweating and said he felt something in his foot. we tried to convince him to take his cast off and test it but he wouldn't. after we prayed for him we saw a homeless guy who was pretty beat up so we prayed for him, and he said he felt something and two of the students with me said they felt heat running through them and into the guy. when we finished praying for him a couple that saw us praying came up to us to talk, they were missionaries who lived in thailand for a while and have been all over asia. they felt called to Honolulu so they moved here we prayed for them and God gave me word for them and they said it was right on, they came to my church on sunday which was really exciting. then we prayed for an older man in a wheel chair. we started talking to him and he was having a really hard time hearing us but said he needed prayer for his knee and his kidneys. so we prayed for him, he told us he goes on dialysis 3 times a week cause his kidneys are failing. he then said he was really hard of hearing and couldn't hear out of his right ear, so we prayed for him and then he could hear out of his right ear... go God!
when my group got back we heard some of the stories from the other teams that went out. one group met a lady that had a stroke and one side of her body was paralyzed. when they were praying for her her leg started to twitch and it started kicking one of the girls praying for her. some of the students focused on praying against a couple psychics one couldn't get anything right after the students claimed authority. they other group got kicked out of the marketplace for praying. right at the end before we were leaving we saw a man in a wheelchair waiting to cross the street. so the students went to pray for him his legs were in complete atrophy and he was more than happy to get prayer. when they started praying his whole body started shaking even his legs and he started crying then he said he had to go and sped off in his chair. the holy spirit is doing something in his life. so thats what i can remember off the top of my head but friday night evangelism was sweet as you can tell. go God!

outreach locations

The teams for outreach have been picked. I wont will be leading any of these teams i will lead a team during the next school. The outreach locations are Bangladesh, Cambodia, Philippines, Kyrgyzstan. I am really excited for the students all of these countries have great ministry opportunities and great staff leading them. Were finally getting into a little bit of a routine now which is nice, makes staffing a little easier when you know what is going on. Some students are having a hard time here and have a desire to go home. So if you could pray that God confirms that they are suppose to be here and pray against any attacks on students and staff that would be great. my email is stephen.duke@yahoo.com so if you want to email for anything specific ill get back to you asap. thanks

first week

The students have been here for week now, were finally getting through the abnormal things and getting into a routine. The first week is a little different than usual. We have a human trafficking conference were going to friday and saturday so we had wednesday off. It made the week a lot different but i am really excited for the conference to hear some new things on the issue and to open the students up to some of the issues that other countries are dealing with. Next week we have Danny Lehman speaking which is always great, his heart for evangelism and spiritual disciplines is amazing.

YWAM Honolulu

Well i am back in Honolulu. i am support staff for the september 2008 Discipleship Training School which i am so excited for. it has really been great seeing many old friends and making new friends back in honolulu. we have been focusing on staff training here which has been great and kept me very busy. i have had a full week of small lectures learning rules and effective leadership qualities to staff this school. i have so complains so far, if you could  be praying for the staff and students of the sept school that would be great. were really excited for what God is going to do through this school.
